We are currently welcoming new patients at our osteopathy clinic in Birtinya, Sunshine Coast. This page provides everything you need to know before your first appointment, from booking your consultation to understanding costs and health fund rebates.

Booking Your Consultation

No referral is needed to see an osteopath, remedial massage therapist, or for radial shockwave therapy. If you are ready to book, appointments can be made online through our booking portal, by phone, or in person at our clinic.
To make things easier, we will send you an SMS appointment reminder before your visit.

New Patients

Your first appointment

At Osteophi, we want your first visit to be a smooth and reassuring experience. When you arrive, please take a seat in our reception area, and your practitioner will greet you shortly. We kindly ask that you arrive on time, as we do our best to run on schedule.

Your first consultation is an opportunity to discuss your health concerns, assess movement, and explore treatment options. Depending on the service, this may include physical assessments, hands-on treatment, and tailored advice to support your recovery. Your practitioner will outline a recommended course of treatment for you including follow-up appointments. If you are unsure – please ask.

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, such as a t-shirt and shorts. Find out more about our services, including what to expect at your first appointment:

Costs and Health Fund Rebates

All our practitioners are registered for health fund rebates, and a HICAPS terminal is available at our clinic for easy on-the-spot claims. If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible for rebates on osteopathy, remedial massage, and radial shockwave therapy, depending on your policy.
Medicare rebates may be available for eligible patients under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. We recommend consulting with your GP or Medicare for further details.

FAQs

Osteopaths assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions using manual therapy techniques, including joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, and exercise-based rehabilitation.

Common conditions that may be treated by an osteopath include back and neck pain, sports injuries, headaches, migraines, sciatic nerve pain, and joint or muscular strain.

Many private health funds cover osteopathy, and rebates can be claimed immediately using our HICAPS facility.

In some cases, Medicare rebates may be available for osteopathy under an EPC plan from your GP. We recommend confirming your eligibility with Medicare or your doctor.

Your health fund may offer rebates for other treatments, including remedial massage and radial shockwave therapy. We recommend confirming your level of coverage with your private health fund to confirm any entitlements.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement, such as a loose-fitting shirt and shorts.

Your first appointment will include a medical history review, movement assessment, hands-on treatment, and a personalised treatment plan.

Remedial massage is a targeted therapy designed to relieve muscular tension, improve circulation, and support injury recovery through hands-on techniques.

Radial shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that aims to stimulate circulation and healing in musculoskeletal conditions, using acoustic sound waves.
